Veterans Day Tribute | "Chevron to Heart"

“Chevron to Heart”

Fox Valley Veterans Council Veteran's Day Tribute.

November 2, 2023 Media Announcement,

The Fox Valley Veterans Council (FVVC) is holding their Veterans Day Tribute inside of the Outagamie County Court House in front of the Veterans Memorial at 410 S. Walnut Street at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 11th at 11am.

The theme is “Chevron to Heart” and the event will focus on the meaning of the Wound Chevron and the Purple Heart. A special presentation of the Purple Heart will be made to the family of George C. Arts who served in WWI, was severely wounded, came home to make a life but eventually succumbed to his injuries and died at the young age of 35. George C. Arts never received the Purple Heart. Through the efforts of the Fox Valley Veterans Council and Congressman Gallagher’s offices the family will be presented the decoration. Maj Eric VanHout, Battalion Officer with the 2-127th Infantry, Appleton Army National Guard, will join in the award. It is noted that WWI Vet George Arts hails from the Red Arrow, 32nd Division which the 2-127th hails from as well.

Highlights of George’s service, music from Joseph Scala and also from the Fox Valleyaires, and a poem read by Roy Rogers, a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, will be part of this event. The Patriot Guard, Scarlet Guard, and American Legion Post 38 will provide honoring elements. On behalf of FVVC President Timothy J. Cody and all of our Veterans Service Organizations we are asking for our Local Media to let us know you will help us share this event with the community and send a reply indicating your ability to do so to treasurer@foxvalleyveterans.org or phone 920-757-6142 with a message.

Appreciate your help in sharing our Veterans Day Event.

Sincerely, //signed// Kim Craddock,
